NEW MEMBERSHIP CARDS

Dear Ralliers/potential new ralliers
I have been unable to send out any information to new Centre members for the last month as I have not received any information from the Caravan Club. This is because they are renewing the old system of membership cards which appears to have taken longer than was anticipated by the Caravan Club central office.
The last batch of membership cards I received was on 17th March.
I usually receive up to 30 new membership cards a week to process and so you can imagine the numbers I am expecting (with in trepidation) to come through my letter box 'at anytime now'.
I therefore apologize to anyone who ahs been waiting to hear from the Gloucestershire Centre and will do my best to catch up when and as soon as possible. I thank you for your patience and understanding
Best Wishes

CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Former Junior Chairman Nick Bevan is running the London Marathon again this year.  He is running for the Charity "Coeliac UK".  Many people are now diagnosed as Coeliac, which means they are intolerant to Wheat and Gluten.  The Coeliac Society is very personal for Nick as his girlfriend Laura is Coeliac, as is his niece Lucy (Graham & Ann's grand-daughter).  If you would like to sponsor Nick for any amount, donations will be gratefully received.  Chairman Graham has a sponsorship form which he will have at Flag at rallies, or read all about it at www.justgiving.co.uk/nickbevanlondon

         CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Dear friends,

As those of you who attended the Dean Heritage Rally last weekend will know, I passed out at the end of the Saturday evening Social.  As a precaution, I was taken to A & E and after overnight observation and extensive tests, I was allowed home on Sunday afternoon.
The paramedic attending me was concerned that I may have had a heart attack. although I had no pains.  After 4 E.C.G.'s, multiple blood pressure tests and blood tests, it was confirmed that I had not suffered an attack, and my heart was normal.  It would appear that the faint was brought on by several things - I had been standing all day on Car Park Duty at the Museum, the Clubhouse was very warm that evening, and I had had a few beers. This caused me to dehydrate and hence the faint.
It is nice to be able to say that I am once again feeling fine ( having enjoyed the Tina Turner Concert at the O2 Arena, London on Wednesday evening!), and look forward to seeing quite a few of you at the Cirencester Club Site Rally in a fortnight.
My grateful thanks to fellow Rally Officer Paul, to Mike Davis and Steve Kalus, for their help in getting my caravan back home (even fitting the Alko wheel lock!).  Special thanks to Jem Wilding for emptying my loo - a true rallier!.  And to my Centre nurses, Steph King and Di Kalus who kept an eye on me until the paramedic arrived.  Again, special thanks to Di who followed the ambulance to A &E and waited with Ann at the hospital.
My thanks also to Centre members who telephoned and sent get well cards.  It was appreciated.
To those Centre Members reading this letter who have not rallied, I can assure you that events like this make you realise what a wonderful "family" ralliers are in the Gloucestershire Centre.

CHARITY OFFICER’S MESSAGE

 Dear friends,

A new year and new charities, and me as Charity Officer for 2009, so I am going to need all the help I can get!

It is now time to select our charities for 2009.

If you know of a cause that benefits the community in general, please let me know so that it can be considered by your Committee, but remember, we ralliers have to raise the money first.

Our first event is the Rally Officers Meeting on Sunday February 1st where we will have a Charity Tea, and we would like volunteers to help make cakes and sandwiches.  Venue is Norton Village Hall.

On Saturday February 21st we have a Coffee Morning and Table Sale at the Tewkesbury Town Hall.  Let us have your books, cakes, unwanted Xmas presents etc  and all monies raised will go to our Centre Charities Fund.  If you can help, please contact me.

The Chairman’s Rally and Charity Fete, our major fund-raiser, will be held at the Taynton/Tibberton Village Hall field over the weekend of 12th-14th June.  The Fete will be held on Saturday afternoon, and any new ideas for raising money and having fun will be welcome.

See me on the rally field.

                        Regards,  Len Pruden

HONORARY RALLY SECRETARY’S MESSAGE

Dear Ralliers,

Hopefully you are happily browsing through this Handbook and planning which rallies to go on in 2009.  I think we have got a good mix of weekend rallies with something for everyone.

Disappointingly, we only have three Holiday Rallies, with two of these being over the Easter period.  This year it has been a struggle to get new Rally Officers to run rallies, so if you would like to try running a weekend or even Holiday Rally in 2010, please come and talk to me about it.  The Centre really does need you!

To those of you who have offered to be Rally Officers in 2009 I give my grateful thanks.

Now I am starting to plan for 2010, so please, if you would like to be a Rally

Officer or know of a new venue, or would like to do something different, then let me know and I will see what can be arranged.

Meanwhile, enjoy 2009.

                              Happy rallying,  Ann
