GLOUCESTERSHIRE CENTRE CHILDREN’S TREAT 2008 For those Centre children and teenagers who have current Loyalty Cards, there is a very “Special Treat” this year - a free ticket for the pantomime “ALADDIN” at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham. We have a block booking for the matinee performance (2 p.m.) on Saturday December 6th 2008. All Centre youngsters who complete their Loyalty Cards by attending 10 rallies up to the Centre AGM are entitled to a free ticket to the pantomime. (Any child/teenager who completes their Loyalty Card but who does not want a Panto ticket can still claim a £5 gift voucher instead). We suggest that any child under 5 years of age is accompanied by a parent. We have a provisional block booking of 40 seats in the Dress Circle at the theatre, and on that number, the discounted cost of tickets for parents, and any other Centre members who may like to see the pantomime, is £16.00. This is a special group rate for 40 seats. The full ticket price is £19.00 To enable us to know how many tickets will be available to the general Centre membership, could parents with children who anticipate completing their Loyalty Card let ANN BEVAN (Telephone: 01594 823853) know if they will be wanting a Panto ticket or a £5 00 voucher by September 1st. Any Centre members who would like tickets for the show should also contact Ann as soon as possible as they will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, when we know how many tickets we shall have left after the “Treat Tickets” have been allocated. Any Juniors who have not already got a Loyalty Card still have time between now and the AGM to complete 10 rallies, so get your Loyalty Card from whoever takes Flag at your next rally.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE CENTRE @ THE WESSEX RALLY 2008 To all Centre members: The Centre Committee have been busy organizing our entries for “CENTRES ENTERTAIN” and the “WALKING TABLEAUX” at this year’s Rally of Wessex (from Thursday August 21st – Tuesday August 26th). Our entries are now planned, and we now need help from you the members. For “CENTRES ENTERTAIN” (maximum cast of 25) – Our 8 minute production requires adults/children to be in the performance (only a few lines to learn), and we also need “backstage” help – creating scenery and making simple costumes before the event, and scene shifters on the night. For “WALKING TABLEAUX” (maximum cast of 30) – our 5 minute production requires adults/children to walk in the Tableaux in the arena, and again, backstage help with props and costumes. A meeting has been called for 3.00 p.m. on Saturday June 7th at the Croft Farm Rally near Tewkesbury. If you can help your Centre in any way, please attend this meeting. If you can’t attend but are interested, please ring me on 01594 823853, or Mike Davis on 01684 296647 as soon as possible. Your committee feels that we have two strong entries, but they will only be a success with the help of the Centre membership. Graham Bevan CHAIRMAN
THE LIONEL & FLO RUST SHIELD The 2008 competition will be held on the five different rallies as listed below. The winner of the Shield will be the family with the highest cumulative score from the competitions. Only the top four scores from any one family to count (i.e you need only enter four of the five competitions. If you enter all five, your worst score will be dropped). In an event requiring an individual to participate, the family can only enter one member, of their choice, in that competition. The term “family” for the purposes of this competition can be just one person, a couple, or parents and their children. For 2008, 50 points will be awarded for a first place, and will decrease by 2 points per place thereafter, thus all entrants will score some points. This year the five competitions are: 1. BOULES (Individual) - to be held at the Fosseway Farm, Moreton Rally. 2. PHOTOGRAPHIC (Individual) - to be held at the Moreton Agricultural Show Rally The theme for 2008 is “WATER”. Photos can be black & white or colour. Maximum size 6” x 4” not mounted. 3. COOKING – to be held at the Leonard Stanley Rally. To be prepared and cooked in the caravan with ingredients provided. 4. WALKING TREASURE HUNT – to be held at the Sharpness Dockers Club Rally. 5. RALLY HANDBOOK COVER – Your cover design must be handed in to Hon. Secretary Di Kalus by Nominations Rally at Pershore, latest. Voting will then take place prior to the commencement of the AGM. See Page 22 of the Handbook for full details. The full rules for each competition will be posted on the Centre Noticeboard at rallies, and can also be obtained from any Centre Committee member.

LONDON MARATHON Past Junior Chairman Nick Bevan took part in the London Marathon on Sunday 13th and recorded a very creditable time of 4 hours 10 mins. To all Centre members who sponsored him, he will be writing a thank you for publication in the next "Towball". (Photo attached) AMENDMENT TO CENTRE RULES
Use of Generators on rallies:
Centre Rule No.24 amended to read "Generators should only be run
between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. and must not be left
unattended".
The Rally Booking Slip for 2008 will include "Generator"
YES / NO
This will advise Rally Officers, who must pitch ralliers planning
to use a generator on the very outside pitches on the rally field
where possible, and that they be requested to use a long lead so that
the generator can be sited away from the caravans to ensure minimal
noise to other members on site.
The use of a "baffle" box to deaden noise is also
recommended.
PLEASE NOTE The Gloucestershire Centre will not be providing fire extinguishers on rallies in future. It is not a requirement by the Club. The Caravan Club suggest that everyone has their own extinguisher, fire blanket and fire bucket.
CHARGES FOR SOCIAL EVENTSAt our committee meeting in February 07 , the problem of socials being cancelled through lack of support was discussed. To
help Rally Officers, it was decided that Socials must be paid for at the
time of submitting a Rally Booking Slip or a Social Event Booking Slip. The
aim is to discourage ralliers from booking in to Socials, only to cancel
at the last minute, leaving the Rally Officers with difficulties, as
sometimes the hall has to be paid for in advance, and if the Social is
cancelled, we may not be able to recoup our money. We
do understand that sometimes ralliers have to cancel at the last minute
through illness or unforeseen circumstances, but this is not always the
case. These
charges will take effect as from the first event in the 2008 Rally
Handbook. Please
note:
We recommend that cheques be post dated to the date of the Rally or
Social Event. This will
ensure that early bookings will not mean a cheque runs out of date
before the rally is held. It
will also mean that the Treasurer can process all cheques for each rally
together.
FELLOWSHIP PLAQUE – NEW SCHEME The Fellowship Plaque will now be awarded to members who have attended 15 or more rallies with the Gloucestershire Centre from AGM to AGM. Attendance on Holiday Rallies – count the number of weekends away. A
special wooden plaque will be
presented initially to recipients, and an engraved strip will be issued
each qualifying year to mount on the plaque.
Application forms for fellowship plaques may be obtained from the
Rally
Registrar, Ann Bevan,
and must be returned to her for checking by Nominations Rally at the latest. The
following Centre Members attended 21 or more Gloucestershire rallies: Steve & Jackie Davis
Keith & Jeanette Seabright. This Page Last Up-Dated 15 June 2008. |
